Books I Read in July 2023

A musician’s memoir, a mystery in English (set in England); a mystery in Italian (set in Italy); a novel about women’s lives across the classes in India, and two wonderful debut novels set, respectively, in contemporary London and in Paris, France and Nablus Palestine during the first half of the 20th century. I hope you’ll find something to read among these titles, and perhaps add your own suggestions to the ensuing conversation.

April Reading

Like this whimsically illustrated children’s book I picked up at a bookstore in Rome, my April Reading mixed English and Italian together. That is, it included one Italian mystery novel and, in English, one stand-out memoir and a few good mysteries, Click through to check out the titles and, I hope, to join the book chat and leave some reading suggestions of your own.

What I Read in January, 2023

My reading year began splendidly, with a big, fat, delicious novel, bought by me and for me in the week before Christmas, just for that purpose. It was followed by a few good mysteries, a memoir comprised of essays, and a couple of novels thoughtfully illuminating some difficult history through the voices of some compelling female protagonists. And as I’ve been doing for a few years now, I’ve made a few notes about each book in my handwritten Reading Journal and transcribed those notes here to share with you. Click through to check out my January Reading and do consider joining in the book chat that follows.
