Five Things on a Boxing Day Friday

1. A longstanding Boxing Day tradition, beginning a new book. I unwrapped this one yesterday (thank you Pater) and am happily settling in with it and a steadily replenished teacup.

2. Did you know that Nanas can be gullible? I say this because I believed 6-year-old granddaughter’s solemn assurances that the Frozen tattoo I let her apply and colour on my forearm would wash off easily. But I showered after my run this morning, and ….. Still there!

3. Pomegranates. One of your better words to teach a 2-year-old. Much fun to hear her repeat and repeat. Plus they look wonderful in a green bowl near a vase full of white and red tulips. …

4. Turkey Sandwich made with the leftover turkey and cranberry sauce my thoughtful daughter packaged up to send home with us after last night’s delicious meal. Pater’s making it up for me as I write this post. Nomnom!

5. And speaking of Pater, he-and-I are going to focus on Couple Time for a few days now, after some wonderfully busy weeks of family time. Starting this afternoon with a dinner-and-movie date. Having loved the book, we’re both looking forward to seeing Wild, and we have a favourite pizza place right next to the cinema.

So I’ll be off with my sweetheart now, while you enjoy the rest of your Boxing Day and savour that post-Christmas happiness. . . What would be on your Five (or Three or One) Things list?

I got that book for Christmas too! I have heard it is an excellent read…about to get started as I just finished cleaning up after our turkey sandwiches!

I'm almost finished now and my daughter wants to borrow it. A rich, satisfying, thought-provoking book, isn't it!

By now, we'll both have had our date nights. Hope yours was as enjoyable as ours. So good to get a few slowed-down days…

In my books… Boxing Day is NOT for shopping. It's for reading and drinking tea, eating leftovers and napping. Yesterday, we did all of that, then went for a long walk (+ 5 in Ottawa…and all of our lovely snow is gone), barbecued for supper and watched a couple of episodes of Vera..taped. Based on the Elly Griffiths mystery novels and starring Brenda Blethyn….great British TV!
    Happy New Year!

Oh, that sounds like my kind of Boxing Day! And that mystery series sounds great too.

That sounds like or must have been a great Boxing Day! Here in Edmonton I'm stitching and watching an HGTV while babies sleep. It's not the Christmas we'd planned but we're together and we're cosy!

If there are sleeping babies nearby, it's all good, right? I'm glad to hear you had a cosy Christmas. All the best for a Happy New Year!
