yesterday, sisters in Paris

A quick run before breakfast to Jardin du Luxembourg where they’ve dressed up Mary Stuart

And where I introduced my sister to the Fontaine des Medicis

After breakfast, we headed to an exhibition at Musée des Arts Décoratifs on history of buttons….superb!

I’ll share more photos and info when I get back. That jacket above, with the butterfly “buttons” is Schiaparelli…

My brilliant idea after this show was to find a restaurant Ann Mah recommended, Bouillon Chartier. I’ve been testing out navigating by iPhone rather than insisting on old-school map books, and this seemed like a slam-dunk.not to be. Apparently, we passed it twice. Another post I plan for when I get home is on the difference between traveling with Paul, sharing navigation, and having the chance to chart routes myself. It’s brought me some insights into my personality, into marriage, into traveling in general, whether solo or accompanied. As I say, though, more on that later. Meanwhile, rest assured we got fed. Well fed, for a good price, in a grand old establishment.

Fortified, we carried on to Galeries Lafayette

She was go smacked. Bouleversée, to stick to the appropriate language. It was such fun to share that!

But my, we were tired. Nothing a little Ladurée couldn’t correct.

Macarons for the win!

A walk home through Tuileries

Dinner down the block from the hotel, and another wonderful #sistersinParis day done. A domain…

Thank you for letting us join you in Paris. There's always something new to see or an unknown (to me) place to eat. It's always special to spend time travelling with family.

Oh, Paris! It's two years since I took my sister's photo by the fountain? Is the Tudor exhibit on at the Luxembourg? Your sister must be having a great time. Thank you for sharing.

I saw signs for the Tudor exhibit, but we had already picked 3 shows for the week, sadly…

The differences between traveling with a husband/partner and a sister are marked. Different activities, different challenges. Great photos of her delight.
    What is Mary Stuart wearing?

It's made of a rubbery material, a long dress/cloak. Presumably, she'll be back to her normal gear by summer's end. Meanwhile, fun to see how the change affects not only Mary but also her surroundings.

I envy you having a sister to travel with; looks like you are having such fun. The button exhibit would be amazing, especially love the hunting scene buttons and Schiaparelli with butterflies.

I love trailing with my sisters and my mother! I hope that you have a fabulous trip! Paris is a magical place. may I recommend un-dimanche-a-paris.com

It is fabulous! It is in a little alley and is a chocolate universe! They have a store, cafe, bar, and the hot chocolate is FABULOUS! It comes in authentic chocolate post with wooden muddlers.

Down the alley is Precope, the oldest cafe/restaurant in Paris. Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Robspierre, etc ate here. Just check it out, I do not know about the food. And there is a great paper store as well.

    Have a great trip!

I'll have to save this recommendation for next visit, Elizabeth, but thanks-it sounds wonderful. And that for reding and commenting.
