Even with an intensive clean-up session after breakfast Saturday morning, even though we had to vacate the premises by lunch that day to let realtors bring prospective buyers through, our weekend was wonderful by a number of standards.
We have to clean up again this morning and be out by noon, so I’ll just offer a few photos as testament. I had a huge meltdown a few hours after every one left on Sunday, and really haven’t been able to muster much blogging energy. Perhaps it’s cheating to fill the void with Cute, Cute, and More Cute, but if that’s the case, well, Cheating ‘R’Us.
Chasing soap bubbles, Cuddling with a Big-Girl Cousin on the beach at just-after-the-sun-gets-up, Sharing a meal with a fellow toddler of a cousin, Navigating one’s fork through twists and lengths of spaghetti. . . What’s the stress about, Nana?!
I guess the stress is in trying to find the balance between living in the moment in this place while remembering the layers and layers and layers of good times here and looking forward to the good times we will surely have together in our new home, whatever and wherever that may be. Lots to learn from these little ones. . .
Now I’m off to erase a bajillion finger and lip prints that were happily applied to every glass surface in the place (and we have windows Everywhere here!) at about two feet. These are a different bajillion than the finger and lip prints we removed Saturday morning –considerable thoughtful determination was given to their replacement. . .
Love that last sentence! Hope the viewings are going well.
Thinking of you and yours and loving the cuteness! Grandbabies are so wonderful to add perspective and balance in times of tumult and displacement (whether physical or emotional). Sending you thoughts of peace, calm and happiness.
Thank you, Beth! Grandbabies do just what you say, wonderfully… and so do thoughtful readers!
Bittersweet.
And, on a lighter note…Bunnykins! That beautiful rabbity world.
I know! Bunnykins — so evocative!
I'm jealous ! I want a fingerprint frieze , too .
;-))))
Cute is good with me.
And we have the same Bunnykins bowl here too. Still in the cupboard and every now and then gets used when all others have prior engagements. Can cause strange looks given the youngest member of the family is 22.
We have multiples here, and I'm already seeing the little ones whiz out of their target demographic, but the Bunny bowls and cups will make the move with us nonetheless. And if I have to foist them on the older guys to justify, well, so be it!
Nothing wrong with cute, Cute, CUTE!! Especially these little cutenesses. We do what it takes. I'm glad you had a fabulous time with your family.
We do, indeed, do what it takes, we bloggers…
We have bunnykins here too! As I mentioned before, all these moments are so special and irreplaceable. Your home obviously holds many of these wonderful family moments but as you move on they won't remain with your home …you'll carry them with you in your heart…they'll always be with you..
So glad, that regardless of meltdowns and many little fingerprints this was obviously a special and memorable weekend for you all
Thinking if you ..
Rosie
Another vote for the Bunnykins, yay!
Interesting what you say about moveability of the sense of home — I've moved to a stage where I can really see that taking shape, tangibly. . . more on that later…
Oops ..thinking of you! đ

Cute, cute, cute. I know all about those fingerprints, and I'm glad I don't have to clean them off to let anyone through the house. They just get added onto here until I get inspired to wipe them off. Occasional meltdowns are fully understood and to be expected. This is a huge transition for you.
Luckily, it was just one weekend, and the parents all joined in for the clean-up! Normally, I'm quite happy to leave them on the glass after a visit for a cheering reminder.
Glad to hear some acceptance of the meltdowns — I wish I were the stalwart type who never did, but being human. . .
Since we have no grand babies, our prints are puppy nose prints. Everyone looks like they're having fun but they will have fun wherever you find yourself. The meltdowns are just part of life.
Puppy nose prints get a great big "Aw, cute" from me as well. đ
Thank you for being concerned about your blogging energy. Really, we are here to cheer you on in these life transitions. Please take care of you.
I have much appreciation of what you are going through AND your willingness to share.
Charlene H.
Thanks, Charlene! Putting it all in words helps
Cute,cute,cute!!!
You are on emotion full speed roller coaster and too much to do,dear Frances, everything going so fast-you've right to have meltdowns! To let the bad feelings go….and good to save…

Dottoressa
I like thinking of meltdowns this way, Dottoressa — thank you!
Living for the moment and cute is good. Salve for the soul. Not sure about all those finger prints. Perhaps you could invent a new toddlers game called dusting!;) Hope all goes well this week. B xx
Ha! I can just imagine the success (NOT!) of that game — you made me chuckle, thanks!
The running bunny bowl…time flies.
So quickly . . .
Hi Frances, I was feeling rather mellow and reflective when I commented last night ..after a lovely day out in the sun and a couple of glasses of very good wine! Commenting from my phone resulted in a duplicate …hence the deleted comment from me! I feel the need to add that whilst I believe in what I said, looking back at your amazing pictures of grandchildren and THAT view! đ I would definitely be having meltdowns about leaving …and there would be tears!
Rosie
Double your comment is just double happiness, Rosie!
Really kind and thoughtful of you to come back and add that proviso. . .
Such an emotional and busy time for you, so many memories, so much to do and think about. Gorgeous grandchildren though and sad to say goodbye to some of them xx
Yes, I've been so greedy for time with the Toddler who heads back to Rome next week . . .
I just cannot believe how Nola has grown. It seems only a year or two ago that she was in a high chair! A delight to see these small spinning-top baby girls and the attentive older child.
It's true! She's always been very much herself, but now she's such a whole person, complex and interesting ideas, burgeoning competencies, and it won't be long before she overtakes my height (I'm pretty short, mind you!). And you're so right — I'm completely delighted to watch the relationship between the younger and older cousins.
There is always room for more cute, and it is a good salve for overstressed and overstimulated souls. <3
I'm sure there's neurological-endocrinological, or whatever, evidence that watching/caring for small children de-stresses. A wonderful salve indeed.
