Almost packed — just the last-minute fussing left. . .
After a busy, family-packed weekend — condo full to the brim with little folk and their parents bunking here and there — I had a few pre-packing errands to do:
— pick up hair product (TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier), of which I’d mistakenly believed I had another container
— finish off the toe of one sock so that I could cast on for the second one, an all-important element in my flight survival routine. . .
— cast on and set up pattern of the beret I’ll knit after I’ve finished that second sock (or I may alternate between projects, depending on boredom levels)
— remembered (WHEW!) to pop the Travel Converter in my case
— downloaded one more book from the library — Do you see a “Fear of Nothing To Do” pattern here?
— bought and printed a ticket for the tram from the Airport to City Centre —
And decided that my purple pleated midi-skirt gets to come along — it was the wild card in my carry-on capsule wardrobe, but I’ve so enjoyed wearing it these last few weeks that I’m ignoring the wisdom of neutrals. . . Or declaring Purple to be the New Black, or some such. . .
After all, I’m wearing my pink oxfords (and packing my metallic gold-black ones — two pairs only, this trip. . . we’ll see how that works out, keeping in mind that I currently have a hole in my shoe wardrobe and Europe’s not a bad place to fill that. . .
Before I go, thank you for all the lively and lovely comments you’ve left on the last few posts — life has been getting in the way of my answering them as much as I usually do, as I like to. But I do read them all and I hope you continue to leave them — and to chat among yourselves. I intend to post while traveling, but I don’t know how often I’ll manage that. I’m likely to post more frequently on Instagram because that’s easy to do from my phone.
Okay, better go now. . . xo
You'll have a lot to do ,I'm sure (all those shose to find and try only)!
Enjoy your trip (sketching and writing in your journal-so we can enjoy it later :-)) and have a safe journey

Bon voyage. You don't get problems with knitting needles? Sometimes what they want to ban is crazy. I once almost had to hand over a bust of Nefertiti–my dad's dog (my mom hated the dog) broke my mom's precious Nefertiti bust; I had found another and put it in my carryon for safety. The security folks thought it could be a weapon. What's next? Belts? Shoelaces?
We were pulled out at Lisbon airport for having tinned sardines in our bags . We got to keep them though . Enjoy your travels & try sit on the left of the train from Edinburgh to York – best views .

Have a wonderful trip. I'm with you on always thinking I need one more book with me on a trip–even when I have 20 unread ones on my tablet. Never know what you might be in the mood to read (or knit).
Are you allowed to knit on planes? That would make these transatlantic flights so much more bearable but I've never risked it. I had my beloved Leatherman chucked into the bin at security when I forgot it was on my keyring.
I look forward to seeing more of your sketches.
Have a safe flight.
I never knew you could take knitting needles on the plane!!! My goodness that’s a wonderful thing to do pass the time at 32,000 feet!
Have a good trip! Scotland is wonderful. I love your thought process- spot on for getting things ready for all events. I’m sorry I don’t get to comment more/more deeply, but enjoy your sharing.
Have a wonderful time in one of my favorite cities. We probably all have silly security airport stories. They confiscated a 2 inch dive wrench from us on one trip and a toy stuffed with beans on another. Hope the knitting needles survive!
I find it really sweet that you prepare to fly by making sure you have enough socks to knit:). More productive than my Xanax and champagne, for sure. xoxox.
