Foot Colour!

I have been toiling, trying to keep my nose to the grindstone, trying to ensure there will be something on the page in front of me in Montreal next week. But I did find time for my pedicure, so I can show you both my OPI-d toes and my new Born sandals. These are much prettier than my metallic thonged Birks and the footbed promises comfort over kilometres of Montreal, Paris, London streets this summer.

I’ve been looking for an orange sandal for sometime now, so these were not an impulse buy, but a “Finally, I found them!”buy, and I’m looking forward to wearing them with my long white cotton skirt, with jeans, with khaki and olive — there’s not much the orange won’t complement. (My sister picked up a pair in the prettiest soft gold, gently metallic, so useful I debated getting a second pair.)

Although I probably would have avoided the orange-on-orange pairing if I’d bought the perfect cropped cargo pants (Hei-Hei) that Anthropologie did not have in my size — so close, and I so loved them — deep burnt orange, almost rust, cotton poplin. Keep wondering if I should have taken the size 6 that were just a bit too tight, but I know I was right to walk away. . . Sadly . . .

Any sad stories your way about “the garment/shoe that got away”?

Or happy ones about cute new sandals?

And whatever your toes are wearing, are you taking them anywhere fun this weekend (a long one in Canada) or do they get to rest in a hammock or a chaise longue on your patio? Whichever you choose, enjoy! Meanwhile, despite what my toes wish, my nose is aimed back at that grindstone. . .

I love the look of your new sandals – but must admit that I could not deal with the toe-post thingy (or whatever the technical term is). For the same reason (tickly feet) I have only had one non-DIY pedicure in my life and that was almost 20 years ago (at a spa in Budapest!). So I envy you your soft feet and colourful toes!

Monday is also a holiday here (Pentecost/Whitsun) and I am off tomorrow for the planned trip to Scotland to see my friends. Unfortunately, the forecast is calling for heavy rain for most of the week …. :0( However, the volcano ash forecast looks good – please cross your fingers and oh-so-lovely toes that I can get home again the following week! Those arew some seriously cute sandals! I would've been tempted by a second pair too.

When it comes to serious walking though, I'm finding I need sturdier styles and something with a snug fit, lest my feet get really tired. But those sandals look so great I'd probably wear them anyway.

Darling sandals, and they're Born? Be still my heart! They're seriously adorable. Perhaps there's an Anthro in Montreal and you can get the size of cargo pants you want. Then, there's always mail order. Yes, I'm enabling…

I have some Bjorn shoes and they do offer lots of comfort…mine are not at all as cute as your orange flowered ones…and BTW they look nice on the terra cotta tiles!
This weekend my feet have been gardening and cleaning the boat so far…they are having a pedicure this coming week.
As far as the shoes that got away…I left them in the store because I thought the price was too high…over $300.

Ooh, lovely sandals. Orange is a great favourite of mine – and so good with denim and khaki, as you say. My sad story is about a pair of black cigarette pants (not satin exactly, but a heavy fabric with a slight sheen) that I didn't buy about six months ago (they fitted perfectly; they were affordable!) and now desperately need for a party next weekend …

Oh my goodness – I tried on those very shoes (in the metallic taupe-y color) just last month! I loved them but they didn't have my size 🙁

Patricia: enjoy your visit — my fingers are crossed for you (good practice as we'll be crossing ours next month when we're trying to fly in Europe)
Duchesse: and a Happy Long-Dead Queen's Birthday to you too! Only in Canada . . .
Pseu: Well, to be truly comfy walking all day, I'd love to wear my Nike runners, but they really don't play in Paris;-)

Nancy: Can I return the enabling favour? The sandals are quite reasonably priced AND they come in fabulous colours — go! now!
and I did try ordering the pants on-line but the duty, taxes, shipping added $45 to the price and I just couldn't do it. .
Hostess: Too bad about the shoes that got away, but at least your hard-working feet have a lovely pedi to look forward to.

Tiffany: Oh,no! I've been looking for pants like that myself. I hope you can find their like again and that you're wise enough next time to grab them, no hesitation.
    thanks, Mardel.
and Jillian, have you looked for them in other stores? They really are comfy and in that metallic taupe, they'd be fabulously flexible.

The only comfortable sandal for me is the ubiquitous Birkenstock, especially with a heel spur it continues to be bliss to walk in them.
Although we have a shop devoted to them in London, variations on a theme are few and far between, I find metallics the most useful for the summer though.
You are far braver than I with colour on your feet, I like to think of that orange as 'Hermes orange'! They would be perfect with blue and white stipes too.
