in Montreal . . .

Just a very quick thanks to all of you for your encouraging and helpful words — I’m in Montreal now, in my lovely hotel room (love having complimentary Wireless and complimentary bathrobe — drives me nuts when everything has to be paid for extra — and I won’t complain about the truffles left on my pillow at turndown, either!)

The last couple of days I’ve finally got a paper I can feel okay about, but I was surprised how much toll it took on my body — partly the ergonomics of writing on my Netbook keyboard, but primarily the tension and the adrenaline. But after a smoked-meat sandwich (ah, montreal!) and a stroll along St. Catherine — nothing, really, like a warm evening on St. Catherine for happy crowd-watching. . . I headed back to my hotel room and rewrote the parts that needed work, practised reading it aloud to make sure it fits the allotted time, and now I’m going to try to sleep (yes, it’s only 8 my West Coast time, but I was up at 5:30 to get my flight — and I’m hoping I can switch over to Montreal time quickly so I don’t start fading during my presentation tomorrow afternoon . . .

I’ve brought my camera and I’ll see what I can find for you in the next few days (already took a quick tour of the yummy Ogilvie’s — right down the street from my Hotel!). But this Conference is packed with talks to hear and people to re-connect with and publishers’ booths to survey . . . posting may be sparse.

I am glad the worst of your stress is over, I too do not kow why despite so many years of doing what I do that it still kills me at certain points of delivery.
I know a little stress is good, but I now know if I could give up and go and paint I would.
Let me know when you are in blighty..

It will be wonderful. Have a good time. Wish we were all there in your audience. Virtually I suppose we are.

Oh, do show us Montreal! It's been years since I've been!

    Much success with your paper!

Am catching up with your posts. My old apt. (with a curly outdoor staircase up to my balcony) was on Crescent St (which intersects St. C and Sherbrooke). Ogilvies was a hop, skip, and a jump away, as was the international magazine store!
