Home, and Impressed!

We’re back, but we’re tired, busy unpacking, and planning to enjoy some quiet time after all the visiting and the travails of the road (in the last six days, we’ve driven somewhere above 2500 km).

But I’ve missed you, and I thought I could quickly share a few of the 100+ shots I took through the rolled-down passenger window of our car. I’m surprised what decent results I got at 110kph.

In Portugal, Pater was very patient about stopping every hundred metres or so for me to photograph whatever seduced me, but we would never have made it to our destination if I had indulged my newly-rekindled love of my own home.

I make no apologies for travelling regularly to Europe and for loving that countryside, but I was smitten all over again, driving along roads I’ve neglected for a few years.

I’ll show you more over the next day or two, in between a spate of baby-sitting we’ll be doing, but here’s a foretaste — isn’t this some gorgeous, big, beauty?!

Welcome home! Those shots are gorgeous, and some remind me of the American Southwest with the sparse landscapes. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks, all. I do think I live in a spectacular place — Pseu, I've never been to the Am. SW, but from what I've seen and read, there are some similarities. And this whole area is obviously desert. . . not what most people think of when they think of Canada, right?

Looking at the pictures, makes me feel very small, as these pictures in some miraculous way show the vastness of your country.
