In case yesterday’s video didn’t satisfy your urge for seascapes, here are some stills I took at the same time. It was so stormy, but suddenly there was an exorbitantly gorgeous scene as light broke through the clouds. I grabbed my Nikon SLR and rushed out into the rain and wind in my pjs and slippers, but when I tried to snap, nothing happened — aaargh, dead battery.
Convinced the light would disappear again at any moment (especially the way those clouds were scuddering around in the wind), I rushed back in to grab my wee pocket Canon (a PowerShot ELPH). I think it did a pretty decent job, actually, even managing to grab some of that surfspray illuminated mid-air.
Powerfully beautiful, isn’t it? Almost makes up for the septic woes. Almost. (Fellow’s supposed to arrive this afternoon. Crossing my fingers that diagnostic and repair visit are all one.)

I thought surely the septic problems were resolved when you were out taking videos yesterday! Perhaps that burst of morning light was a sign of better things to come.
Thanks, all, for the sympathy and for the appreciation of my photos. Septic stuff is not done yet, unfortunately — turns out the pump motor is seized, so Kirk is returning early tomorrow morning with a replacement. Really hope that's the ticket.
Oh yes, that old battery chestnut. Bane of my life especially since my Pentax takes normal batteries. Luckily I discovered Lithium ones which lasted nearly 4 months!

Those kind of shots are so beautifully transcendent that it almost makes one believe that there is some divine presence. Whether or not there is, those pictures are divine.
Alison: Oooh, that would be a pain, not to mention expensive. Luckily both my Nikon and the little Canon have chargers, and the Canon I even have a second battery so there's always one charged up. The Nikon doesn't give any advance warning — just suddenly I have a non-working camera.
Metscan: It really does put life in perspective — rather like your gorgeous fields of snow.
LBR: The sky and seascapes really do take one away from the everyday — often a very welcome transcendence.
My family's cottage had a septic system, and to this day I read the words with dread. Majestic photos.
