I was going to introduce this post by apologizing for interrupting my series of summer images. But then I realized that just because it’s not an outdoor photo, that doesn’t mean it can’t indicate some of summer’s pleasures.
The pleasure of a perfectly pleasing, pastel-printed, simple silk cotton dress, lightest weight lining, also silk. an easy dream to wear. And bare legs . . . that’s summer too, no? The pale blue Fluevogs I wore as Mother-of-the-Bride last summer. (The dress is a recent summer-sale purchase from Bernstein & Gold in Victoria — it’s by Designers Remix, Charlotte Eskildsen. I’m loving it!)
Now I’m getting ready to be Mother of the Groom, and as part of the preparations, I took a long sunny drive on the weekend to shower my future daughter-in-law with the love she deserves, meeting her lovely mom, aunt, and many of her friends. Much summer silliness ensued in a gorgeous hotel hospitality suite at the Victoria Regent, stunning views as backdrop.
Since I had to get back home early the next morning, I didn’t go out on the town with them, so I’m not sure if they made Joey keep all her silly new gear on . . . I do hope she kept wearing her tiara though . . . so pretty!
And she’s definitely Visible, no? As are my newly blue toenails, there at the bottom of the photo.
So after a long hiatus, I’m joining Visible Monday today, over at Patti’s. Go, check it out. See what all the cool kids are wearing.
Oh I LOVE that dress; it suits your style and coloring so well, and is elegant but not studied. And the blue 'Vogs, always perfect… Sounds like a wonderful shower and weekend.
Oh, I like that, ëlegant but not studied." I wouldn't have articulated that, but it's truly what struck me about the dress when I saw it on the rack.
Your dress is so fresh, pretty and summery – and you look fantastic! What fun at the pre-wedding party – there are times when only a tiara will do . . .
Absolutely, tiaras rule!
The dress is lovely and goes perfectly with your blue shoes. Your future daughter-in-law is a beauty. So many lovely young ladies in your life.
Isn't she lovely, Susan? And yes, I've got a richness of beauties around me.
You look fabulous in that dress with those shoes, the latter, which, alas, had to come off, as they tend to do at all good parties – a good thing, especially when you have pretty blue polish on underneath. I'm glad you had sunshine and smiles all around. What a happy event.
It was the perfect event for wearing heels since I was staying on the floor below, took the elevator up, then kicked off the shoes in about ten minutes! As you suggest, have to show off the pedi. . .
Oh, it looks like you had a great time and I love how you slipped those blue toes into the photo.
Sneaky, eh? Photobombing toes . . .
You seem like the best MIL in the world. Your future DIL is so lucky!
Aw, you're so sweet. My DIL is the best — we're a mutual admiration society. Actually, that's also the case with my sons-in-law. Fabulous guys I'm proud to consider sons.
I like you in those light colors. And echo what everyone says about all your beautiful brood and brood-in-law.
