Marine Traffic Jam!

Lest you get the mistaken impression that it’s always tranquil here . . .

check out the crazy marine traffic we had to put up with this weekend . . .

A round-the-island race of remote-controlled sailboats. . . . So that sailboat at the horizon above and below is sailed by its on-board crew while those smaller ones in the foreground are being sailed by their owners falling along in the flotilla of small outboards. . .

How’s that expression go? Ah yes, to each his own . . .

Oh we have a large pond on Dallas Road for these events…but the saltchuck would be ever so much fun!
I'd say boys and their toys…but that might be sexist!

Apparently, it was the first-eve round-the-island mini sailboat regatta. . . . I suppose those involved thought it was much fun!

My husband prefers to be inside his sailboat!!
Here's hoping I get up there in time for the Bathtub Race this summer. It's such a hoot. They turn around right in front of our deck.

We watch them zoom by at the start of the race, right in front of our deck as well. Plus there are always a few of our island neighbours racing — it's the ultimate crazy summertime fun, the Bathtub Race, isn't it?!

It's a way to get out on the water, I guess. In addition to marine traffic jams, there are marine traffic fender benders – I'm sure you heard about the fishing tug that rammed one of the navy vessels yesterday.

Yes, that was a big blooper — that trawler captain must be embarrassed, at least!

    This is adorable.

I am in a deep work abyss right now – thank you for the cheering photos.
