Back home on the island, unpacking and thinking . . . and remembering glorious, if often stark, images from the trip into BC’s interior. Such different landscapes than anything we have here on the Coast. I forget, until I’m immersed in it again, how much this beauty tugs at me. Especially the Nicola Valley . . . and moving towards Chase, where perhaps some memories from my pre-two-year-old days yet linger. . .
Again, thanks so much for the wise words left on my post about theemotional wallop of our family reunion. Still pondering that, and perhaps I’ll say more yet. . . Meanwhile, happy mid-week! Tell me, what are you up to?
We travelled to Quilchena Ranch in the Nicola Valley a couple of summers ago. It was late August and the landscape was so beautiful. We are lucky in B.C. that we have so many contrasting landscapes within (by North American standards) a short driving distance. Did you by any chance stop at a roadside stand with knitting, preserves and an organic garden?
We are lucky, aren't we? The landscapes feed my soul — what is it? the expanse? the sky? the interplay of a few concentrated colours?
No, we really didn't stop much along the way — made Revelstoke in something like 7 hours, then about 4-ish from there to Naramata, and about that down to the Coast. . . I'd love to take a slower pace, stopping for photographs. Or perhaps bike some of the areas over a few days. . .
This week? It's been a whirlwind so far, welcoming the newest addition to the family. Am still holding this fairly close to my heart, not ready to blog about it. Joy!
Oh, so happy for you! And I understand that impulse — take your time with it.
