Anniversaries . . .

This day last year . . . Happy Anniversary, you two!

What a beautiful day that was, my loved ones altogether. Here, my son with his three older sisters. . . the little guy grew up!

And chose a partner who fits right in . . .

So pleased that they chose our beach for their wedding . . .

that neighbouring friends generously lent their beautiful home as a staging and photography centre . . . we knew this home when it belonged to other friends, knew the lot when it hosted only a small cabin. . . .so lovely to have the newlyweds photographed there . . .

and I’ll let this treasured photo speak for itself, shall I?

 Perspective is all, isn’t it?

For example, I view thisthese photos, one year later, from the perspective of someone who shares the anniversary weekend . . . Pater and I signed a registry 39 years ago yesterday, not on a beach but in a church, although we also had the reception at home, my parents, both gone now, preparing for the big day in ways I barely appreciated at the time. . . .

And now it carries on . . . May you have at least as many happy years ahead together as we’ve had. Happy Anniversary, my loves!

What beautiful photographs of a wonderful day! It is so special to share an anniversary with one of your children. Our daughter and son-in-law were married on our 30th anniversary. We all treasure that day…

Lovely photos! It's interesting to see family resemblances between you and paters side of the family. Once again congratulations on keeping variety in your posts. Loved your recent post 're ootd. style posts. As a Lurker and some time commentator I have often avoided comment but share your thoughts 're ; o o t d and some/ of certAin age posts. I no longer read certAin posts from other blogger wjich read more like blog shopping Channels and lack authenticity. At the same time . I respect their right to . Thanks Iris! Glad to hear from you (I'm a regular lurker on a number of sites as well) — I think yours is the right approach . . . it's easy enough just to stop reading those blogs that don't suit us.

Oh, I love the photo of you with your son. And it is true that somehow we bring a different perspective now. I marvel at that again and again. I love the photo best in which the landscape is so large and the couple look like miniatures in it. Such a beautiful day too for a wedding.

I love that one as well, Terri, thanks!
Perspective, yes, the telescope has somehow reversed itself in our hands . . .

Wow, it has been a year hasn't it? What a gorgeous location for a wedding, and the photographer caught it beautifully.

I do think the photographer did I great job — it was so sunny that I know he had his challenges, especially with the reflection off the water . . .

Congratulations on your 39th wedding anniversary…we had ours this year too and are wondering what we might consider to mark the 40th next summer. Have you any plans?
Lovely pictures of the wedding and such a beautiful place to celebrate…
I find that the photography today is so much more creative than when we were wed 39 years ago.

My only plan, so far, for our 40th, is that we'll spend it together! — this is another one we each did solo (Pater's over b-sitting, and I had to stay on the island and get some work done).
You're so right about the wedding photography today — so much more engaging!

Wonderful photos Mater! I love the one of the 4 siblings together – you probably have countless similar ones showing your children through the years; how proud you must be to see them all grown up and the youngest take this most grown-up of steps.

And Happy Anniversary to you and Pater too!

As you've recently experienced, it's lovely to be able to enjoy our adult children, to bask a bit in their sunshine, if you don't mind the metaphor. . .

Beautiful! Love the photo of you with your son, and how nice that your anniversaries are so close. We shared our anniversary day with my step-daughter and her husband and it has always been a day of joy.
