Perhaps I’ll let the photos do most of the talking today . . . I thought I’d mix up some shots of the garden in full fall colour (above the oakleaf hydrangea with a supporting cast of asters, the deep purple leaves of the sambucca nigra in the background) with a few recent WhatIWore selfies (snaps taken by myself — this word, “selfies,” is showing up all over, and who I am to resist a trend?) . . .
Admiring a tweed-ish round-shouldered Isabel Marant jacket a few weeks ago, I suddenly remembered this bracelet-sleeved, slightly oversize coat I bought at Artizia a few years ago (it’s their store brand, Wilfred). Cashmere scarf, cozy cord skinnies, metallic silver loafers. . . .easy fall colour and texture.
Although there’s not much that’s subdued in the garden’s fall colours, is there?
So I’ll take that as permission to get a bit more vibrant myself, in a Catherine Malandrino silk jersey print, some Fluevog boots, and a purple cashmere sweater. Again, comfort and ease is the key here.
I’m feeling quite fond of these autumnal colours and moods, perhaps recognizing myself in them. . . .I’m definitely well into my own third quarter, although Lisa, a few years younger than I, optimistically figures on another 50 or 60 years ahead. . . . Not at all sure I’d want that. . .
Don’t you love the rusty flames of that maple, above right? We still have a few bright spots left, we autumn creatures. . . .
My new J. Crew Viv flats, black patent. I love them with these ankle-length pants. . . .
And the pop of red in my belt above is nothing compared to that of another ornamental maple. But the one red I was able to roll up and put back in my drawer, whereas all these maple leaves are destined to fall to the ground in the next week or two.
Meanwhile, though, her OOTD (Outfit of the Day) is pretty spectacular, no?
Gorgeous stylish wardrobe an HD garden pics. Thank you 🙂
Thanks! I've been so bad on keeping up with the comments lately — really appreciate you taking the time to leave one here.
Love that Malandrino print dress…
autumn is such a vibrant season ~ your garden looks lush and lovely.
It's in desperate need of a trim and some weeding, but the fall colour distracts the eye from the shortcomings quite nicely. Thanks!
That tree is kicking your ass in the colour department 🙂 I particularly like the bottom outfit with the oversized cardi and cropped pants. Very elegant – and comfortable!
Yes it is, and thanks for the sass! 😉
I was really pleased with that outfit as well, and I suspect it's going to see some regular rotation. . .
What a great way to tie together fashion and scenery. Each outfit reflects something of the season. Fun post!
Thanks, Lorrie. I had fun putting it together.
Hi Mater, spectacular colours in the garden, the duds aren't too shabby either!
We had snow yesterday. 🙁
Oh, no! You're made of hardier stuff than I am. . . just couldn't deal with October snow, especially if I also had April white to contend with. Bon courage, my friend, bon courage!
Wow! Those are stunning shots of your garden. I can see how one only needs a garden and a library to be happy when looking at these shots.
