First of all, thank you for responding so thoughtfully and generously to Monday’s post. There’s always trepidation when I let you see my messier side, but as much as I value my own, and our collective, Sturdiness, I think we do ourselves a disservice if we keep all the inevitable real-ness of life behind closed doors. You seem to agree, and I’m so glad we’ve found ourselves here
Mostly images, today, in lieu of words, because my words are going to be channelled toward answering the wealth of comments on that last post. The conversation there — on whether, and whom, we might call for help at 3 in the morning, particularly in the context of a very low mood, depression even — is one I recommend you clear some time to read, if possible. And join in — the more voices, the better.
With the turn of the calendar, we’ve moved to grey skies here in Vancouver — in fact, there’s an Arctic Front moving in and a slight possibility of snow this weekend at higher elevations and out in the valley. . . . So if you don’t mind, I’ll share the last of my fall foliage photos as we wave good-bye to October in the rear-view mirror. . .
I’m feeling much better today, though, and besides answering comments, I’m hoping to get back to some of my own writing as well as to get myself to the gym for a workout Otherwise, I’m going to be entertaining a houseful — my son, daughter-in-law, and delightfully lively granddaughter arrive this afternoon to spend a couple of days with us. We’re having the two local families join us all for dinner, and I’m guessing the addition of Halloween candies to the grandkids’ metabolism might not make for a quiet day — d’you think?!
Now bring on November. . . We’re going to need some hygge, right?
November is my least favourite month but today has been lovely so far. I hope that we don't get all that cold wet air tomorrow. Your coming days sound full to the brim.
I stepped into the kindergarten class yesterday to oversee while the teacher dealt with a bathroom problem. Hallowe'en parties make very active children. I'm glad that your feeling better.
I'm sure the schools were all abuzz with Hallowe'en energy this week!
I turned on the heater for the first time this morning. Now I need some of your leaves:).
We've got snow on the hills here this morning (luckily not in my neighbourhood! đ
Beautiful Frances … we're in Cornwall this week and have been blessed with bright, sunny days and mild temperatures. So hard to believe for the time of year. I'd prepared myself for dull, misty days with rain!! Such a great place to be though, whatever the weather.
Have a wonderful few days with your family …so glad you're feeling better. I'll comment on your last post once I'm home …. thanks for always writing from your heart with such honesty … take care
Rosie
Lovely — enjoy that sunny warmth while it lasts!
Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you for these gorgeous photographs of glorious leaves. Your autumn has been so much prettier than ours was, due to too little rain and too much heat. So nice to enjoy autumn leaves not in my own back yard. đ

It does sound as if the fall foliage was much more subdued back East this year, and ours has really benefited from the way summer shifted into autumn.
Those leaves look like little jewels

Aren't they pretty?! And we don't have to rake them!
Love your foliage photos. It has been mostly brown here due to a lack of water, and probably an excess of heat as well. It finally turned cool however, and I actually turned the heat on for a day or two. Thank you for sharing, and fueling my dreams of future fall foliage years.
Sounds as if you and Ann are experiencing a similarly unexciting fall, leaf-wise. Happy to share mine with you đ
