First, a run, out of the hotel before 7. The hotel clerk: Ah, vous êtes sportives!
Along the Seine, past large clusters of tents peopled by the homeless, a less discussed Paris sight.
Ran up the stairs at Mitterand’s big library to check out the forest…
Sister selfie on Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir- got to love a city that names pedestrian bridges after writers, especially female ones |
Across my favourite bridge, Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, for a run through the charming gardens of Parc de Bercy. . .
Back to the hotel, a hearty breakfast, and we headed out for Adventure No. 2: Marché des Puces at Porte de Vanves, the flea market. Paul and I have never managed to get here in our many visits to Paris, and it seemed a perfect sister outing. We each found a few small, pleasing treasures to take home.
Then lunch at a sidewalk table–another meal, another demi-bouteille de rosé– and back to our hotel to settle into our new room (transferred to one with a teeny balcony–très charmant)
I don’t mind confessing to a long, delicious nap, before we met friends for dinner at a Moroccan restaurant, walking the several kilometres there and back. The day’s total? Nearly 20 kilometres, my iPhone tells me, with the equivalent of over 28 flights of stairs! Not sure I’d call it boot camp–I mean, we are in Paris, but ooh la la! It’s a workout!
But let’s not close on that sweaty note…Instead, here’s a whimsical graffiti treat I found in the Parc de Bercy….
A la prochaine…
Was it the Moroccan restaurant near the hotel in the 13th? I remember we had a lovely meal there, recommended by you I believe!
Lovely to catch some glimpses of your stay in Paris, thanks for posting!
It wasn't Le Sirocco, P, but one a little bit closer to where my friends were staying, Au P'tit Cahoua. Very good, although Sirocco still my fave.
Smiling with delight at your Paris adventure.
I want to hear someone say to me Ah, vous êtes sportives! I guess that mean me I have to BE sportive. Hmm. Someone could pull me on rollerblades. Does that count? I'm glad you and your sister have had such a wonderful start to your trip.
It's such a treat, being sportif and tooling and dining around Paris vicariously!
Ah, les sportives! I have only been to vide-grenier week-end. Was the Marché des Puces fun? You look as though you are having fun!
I can imagine very little that would be more fun than visiting Paris with a compatible sister! I am very happy to see you having so much fun.
I, too, am enjoying your visit to Paris. What a treat!
Love all your comments. Sorry I'm not responding individually, but I'm catching up with family life…
