Inspiration — What I Wore

Pardon me for including yet another Instagram photo. This one isn’t mine, though, but rather was posted by The Lady of Style earlier this week. I commented on TLoS’s post that she’d inspired me, and except for the fringed bag (I feel a little craving coming on. . . ) and the flared jeans, I had what it took to put this look together.

And so I did. Except that, as you can see, I decided to try it with a navy-white striped Tee instead.

I wore a coral-in-silver pendant for a shot of red, and I might switch over to my red bag if I weren’t so

lazyloyal to my all-season, lightweight, neutral M0851.

Of course, my outfit is missing the 70s-vibe which was the whole point of LadyofStyle’s post, but I still appreciate the inspiration for an outfit I think I might wear a fair bit even in retirement. Jeans (2-year old JBrand skinnies — are those old-school now?!) and a T (Club Monaco, recent purchase) with a blazer (J Crew, Regent, bought last fall), couldn’t be much easier. Before I went out the door, these nude Vince slip-ons got swapped out for an ancient pair of leopard ballet flats that are slightly more bike-friendly.

Thanks for the inspiration, Lady of Style!

Love this outfit. You look very stylish and nicely made up. Seems to me you look way more chic in this and other ootd you posted since retiring than when you were working. Think retirements really going to suit you. Congratulations and here's to new beginnings. Best wishes Eleanor

Thanks, Eleanor. I would have comfortably worn this to work (in fact, I wore it to invigilate an exam), but I think it will suit me in retirement as well.

I love the camel with the navy striped tee, so much. The whole outfit…actually is lovely. Perfect with those flats. Very ready-for-my-very-active-retirement-life…kind of thing:)

Thanks! I've never thought I could wear camel, but decided to try it when I saw this Regent blazer, and it seems to work.

I've noticed that recently, you have been looking very happy – of course, your outfits being charming are doubtless contributing to that, but I think that your happiness and anticipation of retirement are shining forth quite a bit lately – which is heartening and inspiring.

I think you're rocking this outfit fabulously! I LOVE the camel and Striped T. I'm also really loving the skinnies and would have really loved to see the Leopard flats! I'll be in your neck of the woods next week! Would SO love to see you if we can make it work!

That blazer looks fabulous on you! I agree with K.Line, so very Parisienne. I'm really liking this blazer style and may invest in another color in the fall (I've found the Spring fabrics a bit too stiff for my liking so far.)

Thanks! I did wonder about the linen versions

I love a little outfit inspiration! This look is fantastic on you. I always enjoy a little leopard-especially in a flat. Thanks so much for joining our #stylefocus linkup this weekend. Love having you with us. I just caught a post of yours from San Sebastian. My husband and I visited there last summer and I LOVED it. I had fun creating a couple 3 posts from there-San Sebastian, How to Dress Euro Chic (the promenade is the best people watching) and my 'revealing' day at the Spanish Spa. I want to move there-now. πŸ˜‰
Happy weekend and hope you join us again!
    xx, Heather

Thanks Heather — and thanks especially for co-hosting the link-up.
We loved San Sebastian and would love to get back there for a slightly longer stay. I'll have to check out your posts on it.

How have I missed you in blog world? You are only a ferry ride or two away from me!
Wow! There is so much to discover here! I am on a brief ( 31 day ) break from blogging. I popped back graciously to participate in Heather and Jen's #stylefocus. I will be back to visit and read all of your goodness.
I find camel with denim a comfortable combination! The addition of stripes takes the basic pieces au courant for Spring 2015! I think the look is very Pacific Northwest chic!
Thank you for popping in to 34th Street. One of the things I love about blogging is how first impressions can grow into such nice and supportive friendships!

Fun to meet a kindred PNW blogging spirit, Lynne! thanks for your kind feedback. (I've not yet taken a blogging break of more than a few days-probably a good way to refresh)

Really love this look on you and imagine the leopard print flat just perfected the look.

I love the Vince flats with it, but I think the stronger tones of the leopard flat might ground the look a bit better. They're so ancient, though!
