It’s been too busy for blogging this weekend. A quick visual retrospective of the busy, using my iPhone and BlogGo
First, the ferry ride over on Friday
Then there was a bit of baby-sitting in which a little one demonstrated newfound clapping and waving skills. And Nana demonstrated that Resistance (to sleep) is Futile when you’re being rocked by an old pro. . .
Next up was the surprise reservation Paul had made at Chambar, a restaurant I’ve been wanting to eat at for years. Gorgeous room, friendly efficient service, impressive beer list, and a menu that was a delightful challenge to choose from. Indeed, the evening was worth a post of its own. But this paragraph and these two photos are all I can manage.
My starter, escargots in bone marrow, was perfection
And Paul’s veal-stuffed squid were also very yummy.
Mains, shared dessert, craft beers also very yummy, but at some point the camera has to get put away. Or as Lisa puts in, one chooses to go in-world.
Saturday I routed my morning run past New Baby and his Big Sister’s house for some cuddles, and that afternoon Other New Baby brought her folks for a visit. I did take the camera out a few times, but let’s keep some moments in-house.
I will share a few group shots of the wee ones at the family Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt hosted by my sister, though. It was a rollicking,yet weirdly tender scene, five babies arranged on a couch, their (slightly older) second cousins/siblings nearby, and rows of aunts and uncles and great-aunts and great-uncles snapping shots on cameras and camera phones from all directions. I do wonder how these will be preserved through the inevitably ensuring technology changes down the years. And who will view the surviving images and how and when and where. And what stories will accompany them, what details remain…
Much fun was had by all, in other words, but now it’s time to ferry back to our island and prep for my last week of classes. Did you have a good weekend as well?
Those images of the wee ones on the couch are beyond precious! What a wonderful day that must have been, especially for Nola and the other kids who are of an age to really enjoy the celebrations.

Oh look at those adorable little ones! And thank you for curtailing your restaurant photos. I can see why people do it but it does mar the conviviality, for me… maybe not for others.
I'm guilty of occasionally snapping, especially if I want to remember details, but I never use flash and I never move from my seat or noticeably alter my position. Mainly, I try to be as discreet as possible and to limit the shots.
Such a beautiful group of little ones! I wonder if some will be friends as they grow older. Is the tiny sleeping baby your grandson? My brother and I had the discussion
about the life of photos. We take them, share them online but how will they be stored and shared in future generations? Good luck with your last week!
Yes, Mme, the two smallest ones are our two March babies, and the tiny one is our grandson. I wonder as well whether they'll hang out together when they're older. . .

That photo of all the kids is so cute! I have one of my daughter with the babies in our mother's group, at around 2 months. It's one of the most memorable images of her babyhood. I bet this one will live on:).

We have two new babies coming into our family this summer, one in August and one in September to join the four grandchildren we have already. I too often wonder who will be friends in the long term and how the relationships will play out. Love your photo.
Six grandkids — wow! It's so fascinating to watch them begin to form relationships, isn't it? The cousin thing nestles oddly between sibling and friend — as a grandmother, I'd love to enrich its potential, provide as many chances as possible for them to spend some bonding time together in the early years . . .
