First, thank you so very much for all your warm encouragement on my marathon preparations. Only three more sleeps now. . . .
And Second, I’m really enjoying these white jeans!
I’ve seen any number of blogs and magazine pieces recommending this or that perfect pair, but quite honestly, within some basic parameters of fit and cut, I think it might be hard to go wrong.
These, after all, are a pair I picked up on sale at The Gap, purely on impulse, grabbed in two sizes, taken to the changeroom, paid for the pair that fit, and out in less than ten minutes. (and if that shows in ways I’m not aware of, I’m really okay with you not telling me! đ
Good question Lisa asks in the very first comment below. These are the 1969 raw-edge real straight skimmer jeans.
Everything else in the outfit is at least a year old, the denim jacket (also Gap) at least 4 or 5 years. Fluevog loafers, Aritzia (TNA) long-sleeved T.
Despite the optimism of the summer-hinting white jeans, though, despite the sunlight you can see slashing through the shadows behind me, it hasn’t quite been warm enough that just a jean jacket will do. Solved the problem with this pale pink cashmere scarf . . .
Okay, if I really have to be honest, I’ll add that I ended up popping on my field jacket before I headed out — I won’t need it today, though. It’s supposed to get up to 24 degrees!! (Celsius, of course).
And finally, to go with the white jeans, sweet little clusters of white flowers. . .
Osmanthus delavayi — I have no idea what its “common name” might be, and common names, of course, often change from region to region. Between that and my years of Latin classes, oh so many years ago, I find the Latin horticultural terms useful and also evocative in their own way.
Most important about this shrub, besides its sturdy decorative backbone in the garden, and that contrast between shiny dark green leaves and delicate white blooms, is that these blooms are fragrant. My garden is wonderfully perfumed right now, long before the roses are even thinking of blooming.
In fact, I think that my white jeans and I are going to have to spend some time out there today, soaking up the sunshine (forecast to leave us for rain sometime later tomorrow) and the scent. . . .
And you? Have you a good day ahead? Or at least some lovely fragrance to improve a tough day? Have you succumbed to the siren call of the white jeans yet? Are they on your shopping list? Or still in your closet?
C’mon people, let’s get this Spring started! . . . .
The white jeans look great. What GAP version are they, do you remember/can you see?
Lisa, good question, I've added a link and a style name in the post above — they're the 1969 raw-edge real straight skimmer jeans. I'm not completely convinced about the "raw-edge" and can't imagine wearing them unrolled —
Working those white jeans! But for goodness sake don't be tempted to engage with the garden – I can never go out there without getting down and dirty, so white trousers are a definite no-no. Have a great marathon and thanks for your visit to me and the kind words x
I do have to be careful! Even my regular jeans are probably better off not getting down and dirty, but it's so hard to resist, isn't it? Just pull that one dandelion . . . and then next thing you know . . .
Thanks and you're welcome . . . đ
I like your Gap jeans and jacket….casual and chic at the same time. I love their sales too….such great bargains.
That waxy white flower is very attractive…do you pick it and bring it inside on occasion? It might be lovely in a vase scenting your home.
There's very little stem to those little flowers, so I haven't been inspired to bring them in, but perhaps they'd be good in a wee dainty vase. . . Today's actually going to be my day to bring in some Lily-of-the-Valley. . .
I'm a big Gap fan – and yes, what style are these? Good luck with your marathon, eat plenty of pasta the night before!
You can't beat Gap prices, really, can you? especially since they do sales so regularly. Style is the 1969 raw-edge real straight skimmer jean (quite a mouthful, actually!) — not sure how they'll work on anyone with a bit of height, as I'm only 5'3 and a bit. . .
I'm short so they should work on me. I'll check them out. They look great on you!
The price is certainly right, at least! đ
I am looking forward to wearing some different clothes. Maybe the GAP jacket will
be warm enough when I get home. You must be excited about the Marathon. Did you know that the average height of all the women of all the countries in the world is 5'3.78". We are probably dead-on average. I like the pink scarf with the outfit.
I'll bet your wardrobe at home will seem awfully expansive after your months living out of your suitcase.
The white jeans look great and I like the way you layered everything too. I haven't gotten to a pair of white jeans yet, I was hoping to hit the mall by now, but hopefully I'll find a pair before they are all gone.
I hope you're soon mobile enough to be able to get out to malls and other places . . .
