I came downstairs just before 6 this morning. These apricot bar-code reflections on the pewter surface of the water. . .
What might that pattern reveal if scanned from far, far above?
From here, it just told me that any words would be redundant.. . .
My photographs will have to do, mere reflections within Plato’s cave.
I’m grabbing a big fleece blanket (it’s only a few degrees above freezing right now, outside), my cup of tea, and heading down to a chair on the beach . . . to soak it in, with the added sensory delights of birdsong and the heartthrob of distant boat motors, the salty tang of the sea mingling with the rosemary blooming at my neighbour’s. . . .
Happy Saturday, you! Thanks for reading. . .
Hi Mater – these photos are truly stunning! I haven't been commenting much lately – we are putting our house on the market and that's taken over much of my head space. However, I'm still reading and appreciate all your posts. Have a lovely weekend!
Good luck with the house-listing — a big project indeed! Thanks for taking time from that to comment. . .
Spectacular images mater!
You really have the best views of the morning sunrises and I can understand why you like to get out early and watch the colours change as the light fills the sky.
Enjoy your restful weekend….
Thanks, L. I do have a wonderful seat in front of the Sunrise Stage, each and every morning. . . .
I took a deep breath after reading this post and the bar-code scenery. Beautiful. We are heading out on the water today.
Oh, what a great day for it, although it came up all windy here by midday. Hope you had a good time!
So beautiful! Just the photos are very calming.
Glad you enjoyed them, Mardel.
Somehow, I never envisioned Plato's cave as being so amazingly beautiful. I will be looking at these often . . . thank you.
According to him, all our world is the cave, so imagine how splendid the ideal would be that this is only a copy of!
I swear I'm coming to visit you one day. I swear. I'll camp on the beach if you're too busy to host:).
You have a standing invitation! And the (very modest) guest cottage has a bed all made up for you, so no camping required. . .
Stunning! I miss the beauty of it there!! Enjoy.
Looks as if you found some pretty magical beauty near where you are. . .
When I was trying to fall asleep last night I started recalling the most beautiful peaceful places I have visited…..and yes this is part of happy memories of Seattle and the islands. Thank you for posting this gorgeous sight.
Ah, you're very welcome, Jane. Nice to hear such an appreciative comment about my part of the world. . . .
Amazing… Thank you for sharing, Dear Mater…
And thank you for taking the time to comment.
You would love it here on Whalsay. The house looks onto the sea and the loch. My cousin's sheep have a two day-old lamb. The life here is quiet like our smaller islands:
ferries, bicycles and old cars left on either side of the crossing. I like your apricot bar-codes and Plato's cave analogies. Your morning photos are always so lovely.
I think I would feel at home, immediately. I could so easily imagine the smell of the islands when I saw your photos. . .
Beautiful.
🙂
So beautiful.
She does a good job, doesn't she, that Mother Nature!
Spectacular! Is it wrong to have immediately thought – that would be a great combo (apricot and slate grey) for colour blocking on a sweater?
If it's wrong, at least we're in good company (each other's, you got that, right?)
Heaven. Pure and simple.
Beautiful! No words needed!
