Yes, yes, yes, I have posted this New Year’s Resolution here before, not only once, but several times. Inadvertently, in trying to repost it today, I seem to have erased the original 2008 post, but regular readers will remember it from last January. Still, it so captures what I want — no, need! — to set as my year’s intention, that I’m making it the year’s first post, yet again. . . Happy New Year to all of my wonderful readers and commenters! May you all find that you Have what you Want, by Wanting what you Have, in 2014! . . .
Turn away now, if the Re-Play button offends. Here we go again . . .
I wish . . .
Je désire . . .
to want what I have . . .
A colleague shared this, one of his primary resolutions for 2008, with me, and I think it’s worth adopting. May this be the year I learn to want what I have, even more than I do now, and to appreciate how very lucky I am.
And in case you’re interested, the photo above is one I took in May 2005 of an art installation in Paris’s Jardins du Luxembourg at the fountain commemorating Eugène Delacroix. You can find out more about the artist, Isabella Paga (formerly Isabella Valla-Paga) here
It's a perfect wish. Happy New Year to you, Frances!
Thanks, Sue. I think it is, too, worth trying for. . .
Happy New Year! That is a good wish/resolution – I don't think I'm quite there yet, unfortunately … I don't really make resolutions, but I do try to take stock and think about what the year ahead might bring. We are currently in limbo, not knowing where we will be living in six months time, so it's a bit tricky. Trying to assume that everything will be marvellous wherever we are 🙂
I would find the limbo state hard to Want, truly. I've been there before, and it's tough — and ours wasn't such a drastic (if exciting) potential move. I hope you find out soon and that the year is a good one for you.
It's a perfect wish and one that I, at least, always need refreshed in my mind.
I do need to keep re-setting this intention . . . .
I wish to want what I have, too. Not sure I'm ever going to get there with the far, far, far north part of that, though.
Yikes! Yes, I'd find that tough. Some Haves are harder to Want than others. . . although I have seen you find some great beauty in the landscape there. . . .shivering all the while, perhaps. . . Take care.
Thank you for reminding us that acceptance of our lives right now is the secret of happiness. Happy New Year.
What a good way to put it, Madame. It really is the secret, although it's not always easy. . .
Oh, I like that! And especially being uttered in the spirit of positivity.
Yes, I find its simplicity and positivity really appealing.
It's a good one, and deserves re-posting. Thank you – I will take this, if you don't mind, and make it mine too.
You're welcome to it, since I borrowed it myself, in the first place. . .
