Often, as we’re finishing dinner and clearing away the dishes, rhythmic, forceful tones crescendo into our consciousness, and by the time we look towards the water, the outrigger is already halfway across our slice of the horizon and moving swiftly to round the next corner. When the sunset’s echoes (we’re facing East, so this pink is but the reflection of a stunning chromatic spread in the West, behind us) are this perfect, I have to grab my camera and run. . . .
Sometimes, all I catch is a blur, as they disappear, their caller’s coordinating “huts” fading in a long diminuendo. . . .
Our nautical travel will be much less exciting this weekend. We’re off to Vancouver again for more family time and to take in a chamber music House Concert on Sunday.
What are you up to, this last full weekend of Summer (or, if you’re below the equator, as you say good-bye to Winter and leap into Spring)? Whatever it might be, I wish you maximum enjoyment of it!
H ave a wonderful weekend:).
You too!
We are off to a pool party and then dinner with dear friends. Hope yours is wonderful in Vancouver!
Sounds like fun! Enjoy!
We turned on our heat this morning – it went from 33 degrees before humidex (on Wed.) to 12 degrees midday (yesterday). I am not impressed 🙂
Seriously? That's got to mean some panicked shuffling of the wardrobe! Mind you, we have rains in the week's forecast that will make summer's demise equally clear. Sigh …
Gorgeous photos. Have a lovely weekend. Ours is packed with activities and work, but we're happily engaged!
Long behind us now, the weekend, and I got behind on comments. Sorry . . .
Gorgeous photos!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend! Mine is the perfect mix for me of restful quiet and fun and a respite from an over-busy week.
Good to hear.
What beautiful shots, have been looking at them for a long time. We went to friend's for dinner Friday, caught a performance of the Flamenco Festival Sat. aft. and will spend Sunday aft. at an art studio's open house. Both sons work on weekends so family night is Monday.
Oh, that's a fun, full weekend. Loved your dinner party post!
Sounds like a great weekend, Mater!
I saw "The Purple Rose of Cairo" with a friend at the Circle of Fine Arts; they're running a Woody Allen retrospective (his films from the 70s and 80s) this month. Afterwards, we went to a terrace for drinks and tapas.
Sunday I made lunch for another friend — it's such a pleasure to have people here on what is otherwise a very quiet day…
Fall is making its approach known in the changes in light and cooler evenings, but our middays still get up to about 30-32. It rolls in slowly…
I've never seen Purple Rose — watching that, followed by tapas and drinks on a terrace in Madrid. . . sounds pretty good!
