First day of pure, unadulterated sunshine around here in ever so long. Ever so. And while no one’s quite in swimming yet, there’s some action on the beach. . .
And I know I’m always asking you to click on the photo to see the enlarged view, but it’s really worth it, in this case.
Sun, sea, and wildlife in motion. . . all estival tawny and aqueous blues. Those hazy, lazy, crazy days might be here . . . bring ’em on, I say, bring ’em on!
What absolutely stunning views!!
Yes, but did you see the deer on the beach?!
It's a glorious scene…
lovely down here today too.
Fingers crossed it stays around for awhile, we've earned it!
We definitely have. and my fingers are crossed. . .
I am amazed that they are so out in the open like this. We were at my mother's place a week ago. There, we have the habit of throwing garbage out into the woods for the critters. We found deer standing in her driveway one morning and they did not shy as we approached!
There! You did click! As used as we are to having them in the yard, snoozing in the garden or chomping my hydrangeas, I still find it surprising to see them saunter across the beach, perhaps because, as you say, they're so exposed. Of course, there's never, ever hunting allowed on our little island (nor for anywhere around, really), so not really any predators (although I start to wonder if the cougars will start follow them, eventually . . . we do have those not too far away)
Do the deer at your mother's place have any knowledge of hunters? Any reason at all to be fearful? Sounds as if they're pretty confident around humans as well.
What a gorgeous scene! Hooray for warm sunny weather and a blue, blue ocean.
Yes! A big hip hip hooray!
Well compared to my view of leaden skies this is a feast for tired, jaded eyes. We have had sun, just not very much and the garden is so verdant and lush it is a nightmare to keep on top of this year. How focus on reading when so much wildlife is around you is beyond me.
I am hoping to steal some roses from a house we own whose garden is full of them. I want to take them to my sister’s bash on Saturday, but may keep a few for myself. Your Bunch evokes those wonderful late Manet paintings, the ones I went to Paris to see.
Your news from further back warranted two re-reads before I fully grasped the complexity of the post, of it, as well as the monumental emotions that ran as an undercurrent through the post. What an astonishing lunch and how delicious it all looked too!
It mirrors a tiny part of my life as I am currently due to meet by brother for the first time in September!
I wish you some serious sunshine, soon. It does wonders to lift the mood! Ours is supposed to stick around for a week, and what a welcome change!
Yes, there have been emotional times 'round here, highs and lows. It's rich and good and/but unpredictable, new terrain. Not sure how it is from a sibling perspective, but I'll be curious to hear from you on that.
It's so clear you can even see the snow capped mountains.
Enjoy your beautiful summer day.
Yes, I love having those snowy peaks in my summer landscape. Enjoy your weekend, Susan.
Gorgeous…I can't wait to get back up to the island. Glad to hear summer has arrived finally.
