Wordless Wednesday

My words seem to contain too many sighs these days, so I’ll keep them to myself and offer you some images instead. . .

Fall colours . . .

I wonder if the goldfish apprehends the coming winter . . .

Callicarpa’s beautiful purple berries growing more dramatic daily. . .

Broad-leafed maple’s broad leaves catching wherever the wind blows them . . .

My marking today, all day, has been pleasantly interrupted by a game of WordFeud I’m playing on my smartphone with my daughter. I’m not keen to add apps, generally, as they wear batteries more quickly and tie me into patterns I’d prefer freedom from, but I know she’s been staying in, eating little, sleeping less, so I’m happy to encourage her in this small engagement with life, a tiny step back to whatever comes next.  It’s not an entirely wordless Wednesday then, but one whose words are rationed. I’m sure you’ll understand. . . .

Lovely photos, I really enjoyed them. There is a very peaceful quality to all of them.

Sounds like your daughter has really copped an emotional beating – you're so right that even little engagements like that can help. She's lucky to have such a supportive family.

And I love those photographs. To see a Canadian Fall in person is on my bucket list!

My words are full of sighs and moans – I think it's the time of year (and lack of a half-term!) Lovely photos – and good to take time out from marking to connect with your daughter.

Lovely, calming photos and you are right to encourage that bit of engagement with your daughter….trying to find the sweet spot of support and balance.

Those photos are stunning in their quiet beauty.

I'm glad that you and your daughter can engage this way; it's probably very helpful to her right now to have a fun distraction.

    Awww, you're such a good Mom :).

Thank you for the pretty photos.

Today is my son's 33rd birthday and I'm off to spend some time with him in San Francisco, wearing the dress I won on Pseu's blog! I'll see if I can get my son to snap a pic.

    Take care Mater.

Debbie: Thanks, I was certainly looking for some peace . . .
Hostess: They're the classic fall leaf, aren't they, such a dramatic size!
Tiffany: The best Cdn Falls, of course, are back East, but if you ever come out this way, you know you're welcome!
TNMA: Yup, sighs and moans, punctuated by the occasional curse . . .
Mardel: It's a tough balancing act, but we seem to be managing it at the moment.
Pseu: I actually appreciated her finding a way to connect that reassured me. Let me feel I was helping in a way, let me know she wasn't so depressed she couldn't reach out.
Susan T: Enjoy the birthday festivities — you'll look smashing! and we'll all look forward to seeing a photo.
