Hoping to encourage this rising sun to burn the clouds off and cheer on these little guys
so that they might open up like this
and show off their pretty selves
and also so that there will be more sunshine and warmth so that I can show off my new toenails in their new shoes (what? I had to buy these ’cause I forgot to bring my flip-flops with me and I could hardly muss up my pretty new polish in tights and closed-toe pumps, could I now?)
HushPuppies — I know, I was surprised too, and I’ll definitely wear these in Paris . . .
Anyway, as I was saying, wanting to encourage the spring sunshine to come on in, sit down, get comfortable, spread the wealth, etc., etc., I decided to send a loud and clear message . . .
I “muted” this dress a few weeks ago by wearing it over skinny jeans, but today I opened the new spring-coloured Hue tights I bought last month and haven’t felt up to yet.
Yes, a bit bold, but I’m having fun . . .
Again, I know I’m really stretching the notion of Twisted Classic, but I think that the dress’ shape (classic sheath, not tight), the black fairly-straightforward pump, the toning-down effect of the black leather jacket, all combine to ground the bold graphic and the coloured legs. Am I wrong? Fooling myself? What do you think?
You know what’s fun? While I’m curious to know what you think, I’ve realized that I like, so I’m wearing — that’s a lovely discovery. . .
Oh, and full disclosure . . . I did grab this bag as I headed out the door, and I may have tipped the balance way over onto the Twist side. Still liking, though . . .
Added Later: Several weeks ago, Miss Cavendish noted that she’d been observing this Aqua-and-Red combo. . . I’d forgotten ’til I saw this photo, but perhaps her post was subliminally nudging me down this colour pathway . . .
And the sun’s shining, full on — all thanks to me, I’m sure.

Materfam…I love you in the dress and the turquoise tights are inspired. I have been wearing my Turq tights all winter and loving the jolly sense of fun they generate.
BTW am blogging from a very pretty island myself today, a bit warmer than yours but similar in beachy appeal…long walks along the water's edge every morning, making me dread going back to London. Axx
I really love the colour combinations, but for me the turquoise draws the eye too much to the legs – admittedly, they are fabulous, but I think maybe a scarf which picked up the blue, or a turquoise necklace would shift the balance back up?

Amanda: Thanks for visiting — I love your blog! And yes, "jolly sense of fun" indeed. Besides my having fun wearing them, I was amused how much cheer they seemed to bring people at work — I think we're all ready for a great big burst of colour — yay for spring!
Tiffany: I did think about my chiffon scarf which shades from this turquoise to a chartreusey green OR a pale-aqua chalcedony necklace. In the end, I decided to stick with the single block of colour — I liked that better with the strong graphic of the dress (which you can't see as a whole in the photos here). For today. I might feel differently next week. But today I liked it just like this. . .

Well, this is so cool that you ar e having so much fun!!! That's what it is all about. I definitely think a lighter, less bulky scarf up top. To my eye you have a lot of heaviness and volume going on up top compared to your slim legs on bottom. How would it look if you took a slimmer jacket, like a black blazer maybe, and added that pop of color up top. The color doesn't have to match the tights, but should be a color as least as strong as the tights. How about a purple? Great outfits take correction, and then you must WRITE THEM DOWN or print your photos for documentation.

Karen: Again, helpful and interesting. I admit that the top layer (jacket and scarf) we more of an afterthought since I knew I'd be shedding it as soon as I hit the office anyway. but you're right — if I'm going to bother, might as well aim to get it right. I do have a longer, slimmer dark blazer and perhaps my red bag would provide the needed balance. Or I may have to seek out a great purple scarf (have one in cashmere but a spring-weight chiffon would be all-round useful anyway).
