Thanks to those who commented so understandingly and encouragingly about my decision to stay off-line blog-wise. I’ll admit to missing this space and have even been compiling a list of movies I’ll happily recommend, but I’m also recognizing, even in the busy-ness of the holidays, slightly different contours in the day’s landscape sans blogger. I think I should spend a bit longer exploring this geography, so I’m going to resist (excepting weak moments such as this one).
That said, I’ve just posted over here on recent reading, and have several more posts planned for the next week or so about books I’ve finished in 2009. In case you don’t get over there, though, I’ll wish you a very Happy New Year! May you have a chance to put on something sparkly or swishy or just sweetly satisfying and may you lift a glass of something special with someone whose company makes you sparkle and swish (and even, if you’re lucky, satisfy, sweetly . . . ) — all the best in 2010,
Already during this short time not hearing from you, I have missed you. So nice of you to surprise us with your post. You too, have a Wonderful New Year!
Happy New Year to you too! Patricia
The precious thing about blogging – or having blogged – is in the connections made, like so many synapses sparking off each other. And those connections endure, some developing into full-blown real, as well as virtual, friendships. I suspect that most blogs have an inevitable lifespan – I certainly feel that with mine – unless one constantly reinvents them. And life may be too short for that . . .
But thank you for a year of highly enjoyable posts and may 2010 be full of good things for you and your family, who have now become so familiar to your readers, including those half a world away. And don't forget to let me know when you plan to be in England again. I can be in London in a matter of hours!
Happy New Year! I've missed you and your posts but am heartened to see more posts at Materfamilias Reads. I have a long list to read now, and am particularly trying to get through Scarpetta to compare notes. I must say, I'm not as fond of her as I was, so I'm hoping this book makes her interesting again.
All the best to you and your family for 2010!
Christine
Happy relaxing New Year!
Happy, happy new year to you too. It has been such a pleasure meeting you in this medium, perhaps next year (!?) it will be face-a-face in Paris.
I hope you have a wonderful new year in all the ways you wish. I plan to seriously take up my knitting. It will be a year FILLED with scarves, scarves, scarves.
Warmest regards,
Tish
Happy New Year! And a self-serving question: Have you seen the two Ellens in *Stone Angel*? I'm thinking about it for a class . . .
Miss C
Fond wishes for a marvelous 2010 and given your plans, I am guessing the upcoming year will be full of new discoveries. (If you feel like a getaway come see me!)
Again, thanks so much to all my readers for your friendship, support, and for all the new year's wishes. Duchesse, Tish, and 60/16, I may actually visit you in 2010, definitely a possibility. Christine, I think you'll enjoy Scarpetta more than the last few which, I agree, have been off the mark.
Metscan, I've missed you as well, and I hope I won't be away too much longer — although I want to come back for the right reasons, so I may bide my time. . .
Oh, and Miss, no, I haven't seen it but probably should given, at least, that I like those two actors very much. I haven't read Stone Angel for decades, haven't even read or taught any Laurence other than short stories for a long while. I'm curious to know what course you'll be teaching it in.
Happy New Year, Mater!I hope 2010 is filled with lots of lovely knits, trips, meals, books, gardens, family, and France.
I took a blogging break during the holidays and as much as I missed everyone I really needed the break. I hope you enjoy your break and I look forward to your posts( whenever you want to post—w.o. obligation). Truly, I thought of your motto "Blogging without obligation" often during my break. It gave me permission to take the break I needed. Thank you!
Have missed you materfamilias…Happy New Year.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder!
Enjoy your lovely island home and your time away from school….I am off to the library to work among the students now!
Cheers.
