It’s the weekend!

I was up before 6 this morning, even though I don’t have to teach today. I’ve just finished a proposal for a conference paper, along with the accompanying abstract and bio, plus I’ve worked my way through the electronic submission form. Either we’re all going to be staying mentally nimble into a much older age, thanks to keeping up with ever-changing technology and media, or we’re all immediately in danger of our brains fizzling into happy oblivion. Anyway, it wasn’t as tricky as I thought it might be and the files all seemed to upload without any obvious problem — the filing deadline was today, and now I get to cross it off my list. Done!

So now I’m heading over to Vancouver where there is a party for Nola’s 1st birthday on Sunday. I’ll try to take some pictures for you. Nola, her mom, and I hope to visit my mom, aka Granny (I’m Nana) tomorrow if mom/Granny remembers and stays home for us. Memory’s been an issue, but she’s pretty motivated to see her great-granddaughter. Again, I’m hoping for some photo opportunities, and if I get some good shots, I’ll be sure to share. Meanwhile, I hope you have some enjoyable weekend plans as well. I’d better run and catch my ferry!

Congratulations on finishing your proposal. Very exciting!

And, how is it possible that Nola is one already? Where does time go? Happy birthday to the gorgeous girl!

Happy first birthday Nola! I must say, you don't look old enough to have a grandchild. Have a wonderful weekend with your loved ones around.

I'm sure hoping for those photos… and for your mother's enjoyment of the visit.
