Pencils, Books, Laptops, and New Cords! Fall it is!

I’ve had a number of meetings on campus this week, and I’m beginning to feel the headlong rush to fall (from there, you just know Christmas is right around the corner!). While I’m savouring moments in the hammock and trying to wear all my sleeveless cotton dresses one more time, I’m also feeling just a bit keen for fall dressing. There are some favourites I’m ready to retrieve from my closet. But even profs need back-to-school clothes, and cords say “fall” to me almost as much as plaids, boots, and fine merinos.

I found these pinwale, plush-comfy cotton cords, with just the right amount of stretch, at Banana Republic this week — their Classic Skinny fit (I’m going back later to snag a denim pair). While I may wear mine cuffed/rolled, my plan right now is to wear them right to my heel for a longer leg. They’ll also tuck into boots brilliantly. Best of all, they are a mid-rise so there’s minimum muffin top. I love the skinny bottom with some of my long, thin grandpa cardigans, and I just bought a brilliant new vest by Line that will be great with them as well — I’ll show you later. . .

We have flawless sundrenched Fa;l; weather here and seeing those cords incites back to school buying even though for the first time in 22 years on one is going back.

Love the look of those, but being sturdy-of-thigh, have yet to find a pair of cords that don't make noise when I walk…

It feels like fall here at the moment, although I know there is warm weather to come. Love the cords.

I've only been away from blogworld for a few days – I come back and there's TWO new pairs of shoes AND cords! Love them all. We're going in the other direction, of course, and I'm itching to get some spring stuff happening.

Ah, the quest for the perfect pant. I have narrow hips and solid legs, so alas, most BR styles leave me with a gaping waistband.

I shall sigh with envy and admire from afar!

Duchesse: Although September is always back to school for me, it's odd the first few years when there are no young'uns doing it. This fall, two of mine are back at it again, but of course, they're no longer living at home. I'm curious to know what yours are doing with your first year away from the classroom.
Pseu: Never thought of that — yikes! I'd better do a sound test!
Mardel: We'll still have quite a few warm days between now and mid-October (in fact, more drought is forecast, not good for fish, etc.). So I may not get to wear my cords for a while, but they're ready. . .
Tiffany: That makes me sound so shopping-profligate! 😉
Again, so funny to think of you living your upside-down existence season-wise (as you must think of us).
PM: A problem I'd love to have, the gaping waistband.

I love both the colour and cut of these cords. I did not think to look in BR as I have it mentally pegged as a bit upmarket. (clothes I can't afford to splash with paint) I now stand corrected, although my shopping window is closing as we speak.
    Back to school we go!
