Isn’t this just the most wonderful photo–that splendid hat, the strong face framed by a scarf, the afternoon enjoyment of a glass of wine and un café? You can find this photo, and many more wonderful scenes from everyday Paris over at ParisDailyPhoto, one of my favourite little indulgences. I’ve been visiting Eric’s site for several years now and while I’m not part of the community of commenters he’s built (altho’ I do chime in from time to time), I feel very grateful to him for sharing his observant eye and keeping me in touch with a favourite city.
This is a fantastic picture. I do love the tremendous style of older women in Paris.
Materfamilias, I don’t have your email to send you a link to the pictures of babyfamilias’s shower! If you drop me a note at talentedmissripleyATgmailDOTcom I’ll send those along to you. Thanks!
Thanks for the reminder of this great blog, I haven’t looked at it in a while. My little Moleskine is filling up with addresses – I think we are just going to head north and see how many we can come across! Patricia
Lbr: Isn’t it great!
Patricia: Yes, I think you need to leave room for serendipity — I always like to have a few addresses for the day’s plan, as much to suggest a route as for the destination itself, but I think it’s important to be flexible as well, so the adventure remains your own rather than a retracing of others’ — you’re going to have such a good time!
I love this site; makes me more determined than ever to love animal prints all my life! Since I showed all my animal “loot” a few weeks ago, I have found even MORE, including a cheetah raincoat, AND umbrella! When did this madness start? I need some EACH DAY!!!
Karen: I’ve added a piece or two since your post as well — I’ve got a zebra-print umbrella and a bracelet I’m going to show in today’s post. Funny, as I doubt I ever wore such a thing before my 40s. I think it’s a great way to make sure an outfit has a dose of fabulousness, even if it’s just jeans and a black merino v-neck — zebra cashmere scarf and you’ve upped the fab quotient exponentially!
I have to show you my zebra print shoes! They have a red lining and piping and a low wedge. I love them, they cheer me up! I love dressing a little irreverently sometimes. Like I always say, if you can’t amuse yourself first, who can?
I think it’s great to have your own private joke with yourself, and one outrageous piece per outfit can getcha there…
Karen: They sound great — I’d love to see them. I also like to have some whimsy with my classic or casual, something to make me smile.
