Mater’s heading East

We’re over in Vanc’r right now, arriving here just as the Gay Pride parade was finished so the atmosphere is very festive, especially since we’ve got fabulous summer weather back again. I made sure we came over early enough that I could head over to Holt Renfrew and check out that skirt. They only have it in sizes 0, 2, and 12, none of which is my size, and I’m probably as relieved as I am disappointed. If they’d had my size, I would have had to try it on, and if I’d tried it and loved it, I’d have had to decide whether I’d spend more than I ever have on a skirt before. So having saved that bundle of cash, I treated myself to a bottle of Kelly Calèche, a perfume I tried out last week and have been thinking about since — it’s a bit more clearly feminine than the Creed’s Vetiver and Terre d’Hermès I usually wear, but not too much so. I’m wearing it now and loving it.

So are you curious about the little hints I’ve been dropping? Wondering where I’m off to? Well, my secret is now revealed: I’m flying to Toronto tomorrow to spend a few days with my daughter, Megan, also known as GirlCook when she comments here, and as the Dramatic Sprout when she blogs here. I’m also getting to spend some time with La Duchesse from Passage des Perles. Since the Duchesse seems to have a pretty deft hand at shopping in Toronto, I’m even more relieved I couldn’t try/buy my skirt, ’cause there are sure to be temptations in the bigger city. I’m excited to meet Duchesse after getting to know her through her blog, and I’m bringing my camera along so I can share some of our visit with you. Now I’m off to tweak the packing. Bon voyage à moi!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I had a great time and will be trying to get a post up very soon. Didn’t get to the Shoe Museum, Alison, sadly, so at least I won’t make you too envious.
Polly, glad to hear the book arrived and you’re having fun reading it.
