My son sent this tally to me by e-mail after our family gathering this weekend. Because he and Joey have a tough time getting the weekends off, they planned to fly harbour to harbour after working Saturday’s shifts, but with the snowfall, flights were cancelled. Luckily, they managed to get away a bit early and catch the ferry instead, but taking a bus from Tsawwassen to downtown is tricky even without the snow, so they grabbed a cab instead. Since Zach had to be back at work on Monday, he worried that those flights would be cancelled as well, but despite the wind, rain, and occasional snow, his plane still headed out as scheduled. That’s the context; here’s the balance sheet:
Parking at BC Ferries (we left the car and then our
friends came the following day to pick it up) $15.00
Admission to ride the BC Ferries (bumpiest ferry ride in a while) – $23.60
Taxi fare from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to downtown Vancouver (personal longest taxi ride to date) $70.00
Harbour Air seaplane trip from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria (biggest upset stomach seaplane trip to date) $255.46
A beautiful snowy Christmas weekend celebrated with the family in Vancouver (too fun) priceless!
And I agree — it was lovely.
